Description
Reeded glass features vertical, linear grooves that run through the surface of the glass. These grooves create a textured effect that slightly distorts visibility while maintaining a structured and elegant look. The design is often reminiscent of vintage or Art Deco aesthetics but is also widely used in modern interior and exterior doors. Depending on the depth and spacing of the reeds, the distortion effect can vary. The overall look is stylish and provides a balance between privacy and natural light.
Privacy Rating 5-7
Reeded glass typically falls within a privacy rating of 5 to 7, depending on the width of the reeds. Narrower reeds provide more distortion and thus a higher privacy rating, while wider reeds allow for slightly more visibility. This makes reeded glass a great option for entry doors, office partitions, and cabinetry where you want some level of obscurity without completely blocking light.
Note: Glass will have a safety-logo in the lower corner on each piece of glass in the door. According to the IRC, tempered glass must contain an identifying label. It states that a label must be “acid-etched, sandblasted, ceramic-fired, laser-etched, embossed, or be of a type which, once applied, cannot be removed without being destroyed.”
